New England Match Best Victory Run Since Tom Brady Era with Win Against New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign
The New England Patriots tied their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady era as they defeated division opponents the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The win bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard TD to conclude the Jets' opening drive
But the Patriots fought back in the second period as Henderson ran in two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be excellent."
Fields found Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the win
