Intensive Russian Assaults Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southern area, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in providing protection systems and enforcing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty projectiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were wounded.

The strikes succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to spot.

He said utility staff and authorities were anticipating more assaults.
