Ex- NFL star Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to confront an attempted murder allegation related to a gunfire that took place in May, with his attorney submitting a not guilty response on his behalf.

Correctional documents in Essex County, New Jersey, show that Brown was freed on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, a highly popular figures in the National Football League, had relinquished extradition to Florida from New Jersey, where he was detained after being apprehended in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an communication that he has already lodged a documented not guilty plea to the attempted murder charge. Brown could be in a Miami hearing as soon as Wednesday early for a release hearing, Eiglarsh stated.

According to his detention order, Brown is alleged of taking a firearm from a protection guard after a celebrity boxing bout in May and shooting multiple bullets at a man he had fought with previously. The claimed individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to police that one of the bullets scraped his neck.

Eiglarsh stated that Brown was simply protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The measures he was forced to take were exclusively in self-protection against the reported victim’s violent actions. Brown was attacked that time and behaved within his rightful entitlement to safeguard himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not immediately detained because originally authorities did not consider Nantambu as a affected party. It only later in May that Nantambu gave a detailed testimony about the incident to officers and named Brown as the gunman, the document states.

According to his online posts, Brown had been residing in Dubai for multiple weeks. In a message after the incident, Brown claimed he was defending himself because he was “attacked by numerous people who tried to take my jewelry and inflict bodily injury to me.”
